Woman dies after being trapped on train

Police were called to the Albany train station in southern Washington after reports of three people on a platform next to a stopped commercial train.

While officers were en route, they received further reports that a woman was in distress after becoming trapped in the locomotive car.

WA Police said she was unresponsive when officers arrived. Despite attempts to free the woman, she could not be revived.

Police are treating the incident as a suspected accident.

“Albany detectives attended the scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death,” WA Police said in a statement.

“The woman’s death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.”
