The Apple HomePod now officially supports YouTube Music.
You Tube Music fans can now ask Siri to play music from the music streaming service, or set it as the default when they ask their HomePod to play music.
Apple initially announced plans to add formal support for YouTube Music on the Home Pod during WWDC in June. News of Friday’s update was posted to Reddit by YouTube Music head of product Brandon Bilinski, where it was first spotted by 9to5 Google.
To use YouTube Music on your device, you must have the latest version of YouTube Music installed on your mobile device. Then go to Settings > Connected apps > Connect to HomePod.
Once you’ve got everything connected, you can say “Hey Siri, play music on YouTube Music” and start listening to your favorite songs on the service right away. As 9to5Google notes, this means you don’t have to launch the app on your phone and then use AirPlay.
As with other services, to play YouTube Music through your Home Pod, you must also be a paying YouTube Premium or Music Premium subscriber.
